I need to display charts in my Metro app, and there are no controls available (yet) for WinRT. I had already planned how to create my own, but I really don’t have the time for it, whenI came across Telerik’s chart control (preview only). I emailed them for an access code, and tweeted a little prayer as well, and got my code today.

Get the controls here (you have to email them for the access code)

I had a hard time figuring out how the charts should be used and configured in XAML and code, as I couldnt find any documentation. It took me, together with a good friend of mine , about one hour to get a very simple bar and piechart to display the way we wanted (kind of) with a rather high WTF/h. With that said, both of us are probably mainly web developers with limited XAML experience, hence the WTF’s 😉

But the charts look good, and I am glad they made them. Even more happy about me getting early access to them so I can have my charts ready for the AEL lab on thursday. I’ll give the controls a more decent review once I”ve tried them out for real. But thank you for the charts Telerik, and please make some more Win8 controls,- we need them!

  1. Thanks for the review, Iris. If you’d send along your list of WTFs, I’ll see if we can’t get them fixed for the official release of the Telerik RadControls for Metro.
