As i was preparing my demo’s for some upcoming sessions the Share charm stopped working.

From Visual Studio 2012 when I was running my app and trying to share nothing would happen at all- I had an app that was both a share target and share source, and from other Windows Store Apps it would try and try, until finally displaying: ‘Something went wrong with Share. Try again later’. Not a very helpful message. Opening Task Manager (which is totally awesome in Windows 8), I couldn’t see any obvious problems.

This seems to be a problem other devs also have experienced, and thankfully the solution is fairly straight forward and doesn’t require a restart.

Something went wrong with Share. Try again later

Open Task Manager, end the explorer.exe task (Details tab).
Select Run new task from File in Task Manager and type in explorer in the textbox and click OK.

The problem has been reported, and the official work around is found here (basically what i wrote above but with more text and no images).
