A short but helpful post. A recent update for Windows changed a few things, among them was setting the manual proxy to on. This has for me at least resulted in an error code 0x80072ee2 whenever I try to access the Store. Sometimes I can peek a little bit, but then it returns the error code and says the Windows Store cannot be accessed or there was a problem reaching the server.

Go Settings => Network => Proxy in the Modern UI mode and try turning the manual proxy of.

windows store not working

windows store not working2

If that doesn’t help try the previous solution I wrote , turning it off and on. Run this in elevated (admin) mode in PowerShell:

net stop wuauserv

net start wuauserv

  1. Thank you soooo much! I hadn’t noticed this, but I had noticed this was my issue and just unticked it in internet options. Saved me so much time now.

Just got home w my brand new laptop and was very close to losing my mind over this.

Should I keep it turned off always or should I turn them On after a while???

    Thanks again

  7. Thanks you for a lot of people’s help but
    its my problems…
I can’t off the proxy coz I have a proxy net [ : 808] (Secure by Juniper Web Filtering)
If I off the manual proxy, internet connection is off too..
Need help in this issue ???

  8. I tried turning the manual server off, but the moment I left, it turned itself back on again. Turning on “automatically detect settings” didn’t help either. Any suggestions?

  9. was so useful… muchas gracias

  10. was so useful, gracias infinitas

  11. Hi Iris – very useful post but unfortunately neither solution works for me. In fact, it is impossible to set the proxy server to off as there is no facility to save the change – unless, of course – you chose the automatic options. I did, at one time, remove all of the values which enabled me to set Proxy to off but a restart put everything back as was. Very strange. It is also impossible to set Proxy to off using IE options – it simply and immediately gets set back to on. Very strange and very frustrating.

  12. You are a genius!!!!! Thaaaankssss SO much. I’ve been trying to fix this Sh#t for 4 hours… and finally i came across this

  13. I am having the same problem as Michael above. I keep turning it off, and it will turn itself back on after a moment or two. When I do turn it off, the option to save goes away so I am not able to save the changes.

  14. seriously someone help me this is really starting to annoy me. i cant click save when I turn the proxy off!

  20. Hi, manual proxy settings is already turn off. I have tried this setting and still facing 80072ee2 problem..

  21. thank u so much

  22. Thanks. That did it for me. It also fixed me “not being connected to the internet” when I tried to use the phone companion app on my new Windows 10 upgrade. Much appreciated.

  23. THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA! While mine wasn’t with the “manual proxy server” it was with the server as a whole. I went into the settings as you described, and under proxy there was a “automatically detect settings” under “use a proxy server”. I turned that off and BAM, Store immediately worked, and my “Outlook settings are out-of-date” errors in mail immediately vanished. Apparently Win 10 doesn’t like proxy servers…. hm….

  24. My Proxy is already off so i want to know what to do now my store is still not working………………….

  25. OMG OMG OMG!!!! it worked… had tried every sort of possible ways for past 2 months yes 2 long months… And today your help topped them all. Merci, Merci beaucoup!! love and blessings.

  26. I’m getting error code 0x80072ee2 on my windows 10 store even though my proxy is off and store is showing message “server stumbled”… plz suggest me to correct this problem?

  27. love youuuuuu!!!!!

  28. I’ve tried all the steps but I keep getting the same error.

  29. seriously its working…woooowwww…tanx a lot…it was being a month since i opened the store…gr8 job…luv u loads..

  30. I tried all these steps including in admin shell commands. I was given this message from admin shell

“The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.”

I still cannot use microsoft store.

    Any advice is welcome.
