Accessing your Azure Website content over FTP with FileZilla

A very easy blog post as I’m fighting the clock trying to finish the last chapter on the Windows Store Apps book (Windows 8.1) that I’m co-authoring with Matt Baxter-Reynolds so our editor wont chase us down in a fury, and I have a breakfast session at work tomorrow for the workplace usergroup. I blame the 7:30 start-time on Calle he he.

Anyway, you probably already know this, but you would be surprised how many people ask me about this. How to access their Azure Website content over FTP with for example FileZilla. It’s easy, once you know it. The only tricky part is to find the credentials and the FTP address on Azure.

Hopefully these two screenshots show how to access your Azure Website content over FTP with FileZilla.

  1. Access their Azure Website content over FTP with for example FileZillaIn your Dashboard select Download the publish profile
  2. Look for: publishMethod=”FTP”
  3. Grab url, username and password
  4. In FileZilla add new site and use the credentials from above, with port 21
